Bhambore: The Gateway of Islam in Sub Continent
There is no doubt that this world has great historical places to see, if you visit them or read about them, so they compel you to feel that you still have somewhat indefinable relations with your pre-ancestors who lived before you, especially when you are a dweller of this particular place or area, such historical places make you think that what did these people do? How did they live? You feel yourself being a part of them. And Sindh province is one of them.
Sindh is one of those places which belong to prehistoric civilization, this province of Pakistan has masses of preciously prehistoric heritage of early Indus civilizations and cultures, and Bhambore, indubitably, is one of them.
Originally, Bhambore is an ancient city of early and prehistoric Sindhi civilization and culture, situated merely 60 km from Karachi towards Thatta District. It is on the north bank of the Gharro inlet, near Pakistani Arabian Sea.
This city has been one of many ancient and historical places in Pakistan. Some historians believe that it was a part of Debal. According to many archeologists, mainly this city’s history consists three distinct periods such as Indo-Scythian, Buddhist, Hindus and an early Islamic period. It is said that it is more than 2000 years old city on earth and has not confirmed yet who the pioneer of this ancient city was. It was also an ancient port of Sindh. In 893 AD all the city was nearly devastated by a terrible earthquake and in the early 14th century the city was abandoned because of the changing in the course of the river Indus.
Bhambore has a lot of interesting things for a visitor to see, such as the Grand Mosque which was built by Muhammad bin Qasim after conquering of this city and bears the title of the first mosque in sub continent and is still there to see. He also made partitions of this city in order to thrive peace and avoid violation between Hindus and Muslims, and you can still see these partitions. The famous romantic folklore of Sassi (a female) from Bhambore and Puhno (a male) from a Bloch tribe also belongs to this ancient city.
In Bhambore and in Bhambore’s museum you can see the many remains of this ancient city which makes you believe that Bhambore was a well-organized and well-planned city, its road networking, remains of buildings’ structures and designs mentioned us that the people who lived there were civilized. This city was populated by different sorts of people which, of course, belonged to different religions, cultures and civilizations but now this place is completely desolate, which tells us apparently that the stay in this world is temporary, we are all mortal and our lives are uncertain.
So far, this ancient place has a great ancient heritage of early Indus civilization and culture, especially for those who are interested in history and historical places.

Bhambore: The Gateway of Islam in Sub Continent
There is no doubt that Islamic History and Civilization have divided into different periods and phases and each period and phase has great historical lessons for us to learn. They have real impact and effects on human history. And no doubt we can rejuvenate and improve our present worse condition by learning and analyzing them carefully and impartially, which is the foremost purpose of learning any history.
As a historical sketch of Islamic History which belonged to ancient civilization of Sindh, basically Islamic Empire (caliphate) began from the era of the Last Holy Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) and continued until the downfall of Ottomani (Usmani) Empire which appeared in 1566 AD. One of the Islamic Empires began from 661 to 750 called Umayyad Caliphate in which Sindh was conquered by Muhammad bin Qasim in 712 AD after defeating of Raja Dhair in the reign of Walid bin Abdul Malik (Walid 1), his reign began in 705 AD and ended in 715 AD. After conquering Makran Muhammad bin Qasim reached Bhambore, he entered through this city in Sindh.
